Biography
Pere Olivé is a percussionist who collects the freshness of the oral musical tradition of his country and the academicism of the classical percussion. Pere holds a degree in historical percussion and Catalan traditional music by ESMUC where he studied with Pedro Estevan. Later he expanded his studies at the Schola Cantorum Basilensis (Switzerland). On the other hand, he has also been under the instruction of other teachers from around the world like Andrea Piccioni, Michael Metzler, Yshai Afterman, Mauricio Molina and Glen Velez.
As an interpreter, he has collaborated with internationally renowned formations such as Le Poème harmonique, L’Arpeggiata, Forma Antiqua, Ensemble Correspondances, La Grande Chapelle, Vespres d’Arnadí, Hespèrion XXI and Le Concert des Nations, performing in tours around Europe, the United States, South America, Asia and Australia.
He has also participated in the dance and music show “Romances inciertos, un autre Orlando” directed by the artist Nina Laisné, with which they have performed more than hundred performances in the last few years. What’s more, his participation in choirs such us Cor de Cambra del Palau de la Música Catalana, O Vos Omnes and Escolania de Montserrat stands out. He is also part of various groups: Arbeau Project, OMAC, Quintet Montsant, Tañer, Cobla Catalana dels Sons Essencials, So Nat Grallers de Tarragona, Lucentum XVI and Quidni.
As a professor, he has more than twenty years of experience and is currently a professor of historical percussion at the ESMUC and percussionist repertorist in the traditional music department of the same center.
